We need to use more anchor charts. How do you use them and how do you make them more interactive with your kids, so it's not just the teacher making them? Thank you.

I make them with the students. I then put them up around the room and we use it as review. I do have some already made that we read together and refer to when needed.

I make them with the kids. If they are generating the ideas, I have them write the ideas on them.

Sometimes I use word cards that the kids sort and add to the chart, or they add sitcky notes with their thinking.

I also write the I can statement right on the chart at the top.

Some of the charts I have the bones of them already there and I have laminated, but I always have the kids add their own ideas/examples to the charts.

I retired before they became all the rage. I did come across a tip that might be useful. Before putting one away, take a photo of it and place it in a binder readily available to the students. That would allow students to refer to a chart as needed.
