Name spellings

Have you noticed an increase in parents spelling kids names in unusual ways the past few years? I'm just wondering if it's become a thing in our area or if it's all over. One example is MacCaelaa. We have several in our class this year and lots throughout the school.

I love baby names and live to read the birth announcements...but itís gotten so bad that we now announce a winner from every Sunday paper!

Itís like they want it to be unique so they go crazy. A recent favorite was Emmaleeyah. How do you even?

Yep. I don't like boy names that seem to have girly spellings (my opinion)

Nethinyel

Mycah

Zecheryah

I guess it's using a y that makes it seem weird and girly to me. I wish people would just use typical spellings. Their poor kids will never find their name on any mug or keychain, and no one will ever pronounce/spell it correctly the first time.

They are going to spend their life having to spell their name for everyone. Some examples: Lacey, Lucey, Nataley, Chasity, and Curtricia.

It's not just your area. It's all over. I feel sorry for these kids. Not that everyone needs to have a traditional name, but some of these spellings are truly ridiculous.

I, too, feel sorry for these kids! What about Mma (Emma)?? I had no idea how to say that one. Her teacher told me! Wow, just wow!

Yes I have and these parents need to be locked up for their name and "different" spelling choices!!
What a cruel thing to do to your own child.

And what about those parents who say the name is spelled differently because it is Gaelic?!?! And the family is Indian or 4th gen Canadian or something.
A load of rubbish!!!!
