I have an interview next week at the library!

I need to bring three references. My dilemma is, how to choose the best ones! I guess a variety would be good. Here are some possibilities:

-Hana or Tammi: neighbors with elementary school children, who attend library programs. I sometimes do informal science activities with their kids. I taught Tammi's dh years ago.

-Heather: a local science teacher. I have known her since she was a baby. She was in my GS troop, which had an environmental focus, and I have mentored her informally for years. She is my co-teacher for the summer field ecology class.

-Kyle or Dolores: education coordinator and director at the museum where I work part time.

-Fran: long time friend and colleague, on the library board. Retired first grade teacher who works at the library in the next town.

-Julia: I know her from church and Girl Scouts. Taught her girls in Sunday School for many years.

Of course there are other possibilities...but these are the likely ones. Any thoughts on how I choose three?

I am fortunate to have so many good choices!

I think they would like to know how you would be at work, so I would pick Kyle and/or Delores, since they have a work history with you. Heather also works with you, so she might be a good choice. Good luck! I hope you get the job!

You are fortunate to have those references to choose from! I think I would go with Fran, Hanna/Tami, and Kyle/Dolores. Then you have a variety of genres so to speak

I think I want to add Fran, since she worked with you, and she knows what the library is looking for. I am no help! I am going to stop here, before I have your whole list chosen!

I agree with readbks2: they want to know if you’re a good worker who will fit. I would submit letters from:
1. Your former principal who knows you’re smart and hardworking. Tell him/her what you want the letter for before he/she writes it.
2. Tammi as a character reference.
3. Heather as a current colleague.

Fran, Heather, Kyle and Dolores are the best choices because they know you in a more professional capacity. Sending my best wishes that you'll get the job!

I've been wondering too! It'll be interesting to compare notes since I work at a library too!
