I start decorating Thanksgiving weekend, but the tree doesn't go up until two weeks before Christmas so it doesn't dry out.
I always go to the tree lot and get a nice, fresh tree. I am not a fan of artificial trees.
I use colored lights on my tree.
My tree topper is a fabric angel that belonged to my mom. When I got my first apartment, my younger brother bought me a Waterford Crystal tree topper but I have cats, so it goes up on the hutch at Christmas, so it doesn't come crashing to the ground and smash into a million pieces.
I put up a nativity scene from Peru. It was a gift from my older brother.
My decorations come down after January 6th.

When do you decorate?
First Sunday of Advent:
-icicle lights and snowflake decorations on the front porch
-Advent wreath on the dining room table
-empty creche
December 6 (St. Nicholas Day):
-Stockings
Second Sunday of Advent:
-Wreath on front door
-Mary & Joseph begin a journey across the room toward the creche
Third Sunday of Advent:
-Put up tree and tree lights
-Hang stained glass ornaments in kitchen window
-Mary & Joseph move closer to creche; Shepherd & sheep grazing nearby
Fourth Sunday of Advent:
-Decorate tree
-Mary & Joseph in creche
Christmas Eve:
-star above creche; magi begin journey across room; angels
Christmas Day:
-baby in creche; magi move closer (they reach the creche on Epiphany, January 6)
What kind of tree do you have?
We buy a small (5 ft) fresh tree every year as soon as they go on sale. We store it in our garage till it goes up on the third Sunday of Advent.
Do you use white lights or colored lights on your tree?
White.
What is your tree topper?
A paper mache angel made by a friend of eldest dd. (She has a business making paper mache ornaments)
Do you put up a nativity scene?
Yes...see above. Ours is stained glass, but we have some other miscellaneous figures made of other materials.
When do you take down your decorations?
Usually the weekend after Epiphany. Dh’s birthday is Jan 7, so we try to wait till after his birthday. As a kid, he hated that his birthday was the day after Tres Reyes, so all the decorations came down on his birthday.

I decorate sparsely on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. (We have tended to travel for the last 6 years)

I have a Norfolk pine in my classroom that was given to me by a student 10 years ago. (Tree's name is Little Dylan). We haul him home for the holidays. He has very weak branches so very few white lights and only the lightest of decorations.

I put up a carved wood nativity from Ecuador. A Mexican nativity goes in the kitchen.

Decorations come down on January 6. Well mostly. As the kids have gotten older, I have shifted from Christmas to Winter decorations- burgundy, gold and silver candles. I leave them out for a little bling during the dark winter months.

When do you decorate? The day after Thanksgiving usually. Last year, I decorated the day before Thanksgiving because the day after was set aside for the Gilmore Girls revival.

What kind of tree do you have? Artificial. I'd LOVE a real tree, but with DH's allergies it would be a bad idea.

Do you use white lights or colored lights on your tree? White

What is your tree topper? A little angel that my sister's family brought me from Haiti one year.

Do you put up a nativity scene? We have several.

When do you take down your decorations? Sometime before New Years Eve - I like to start the new year off with a clean house.

When do you decorate? Usually about mid-November, after Remembrance Day. I'll probably start hauling some stuff out Sunday/Monday. I want to be as ready as possible for Christmas when I go back to work a week from Monday

What kind of tree do you have? Our main tree is real, though I have a fake one I put up as well.

Do you use white lights or colored lights on your tree? White

What is your tree topper? A plaid star

Do you put up a nativity scene? I have a little one I put out some years. I'd love to collect a nice one, Willow Tree or Jim Shore. I would actually love to get a Little People or Melissa and Doug nativity for DD.

When do you take down your decorations? Usually the weekend after New Years. I'll leave some winter stuff up for a month or 2.

We decorate after Thanksgiving.
We have two artificial ones. One has colored lights and a variety of ornaments. The other is a skiNny tree with white lights and gold ornaments.
Tree toppers are angels.
Nativity set is different but I love it! I'll post a picture when I get it out.
We take stuff down the weekend after New Years.

When do you decorate?
I start the day after Thanksgiving.tree usually goes up following weekend and I make anyone who wanders through the living room hang a few ornaments.

What kind of tree do you have?
7 foot, prelit artificial. I hate stringing lights and no one wants to help.

Do you use white lights or colored lights on your tree?
Multicolored.

What is your tree topper?
The tree touches the ceiling so, no.

Do you put up a nativity scene?
Yes. My parents gave us a beautiful baroque scene as a wedding present. Youngest DD (27) likes to sneak in plastic dinosaurs when I'm not looking.

When do you take down your decorations?
Usually the first week of January.

When do you decorate?

Historically I decorate right after Thanksgiving, but this year I'm starting the weekend before.

What kind of tree do you have?

We just bought a new artificial tree from Costco. It's 7.5 feet with transitioning lights. The availability of quality fresh trees at a reasonable price is zilch in my area. I was really disappointed last year and spent so much $$$ I said never again.

Do you use white lights or colored lights on your tree?

Clear, but this new tree has an option of colored or clear. My kids like the colors.

What is your tree topper?

It is a super old angel dressed in white that is holding a candle that lights up. My grandmother bought it a garage sale for $.25 many years ago and gave it to me when I moved out since I didn't have any decorations. I cherish it.

Do you put up a nativity scene?

I don't have one but I'd like to.

When do you take down your decorations?

I start putting some things away right before Christmas that aren't really noticeable, and I'm very picky about putting everything away immediately after Christmas. My mother is the same way.

When do you decorate?
I start the day after Thanksgiving.
What kind of tree do you have?
I put up multiple trees and they are all artificial.
Do you use white lights or colored lights on your tree?
Some trees have multicolored lights, one has all blue,
but our main tree that presents are under is decorated with all white.

What is your tree topper?
My trees have themes- snowmen has a snowman topper, bulbs and bows has brightly colored bows to match, some trees have ribbons, snowflakes, etc. Our main tree has crystal ornaments and a star to match.
Do you put up a nativity scene?
Yes, I have my grandmother's nativity.
When do you take down your decorations?
The trees and any obviously Christmas decorations come down 1st weekend in Jan after New Year's Day. The snowmen and snowflakes stay up until Easter. But, I have been known to find snowmen in the house on the 4th of July! Those little buggers are everywhere.

We decorate as close to the first weekend in December if time allows.

We have an artificial tree, 7ft I believe, not too full because my living room is tiny. We actually set the tree on top of my coffee table to get the coffee table out of the way

We usually put colored lights on our tree

I think my tree topper is a star, lights up

We actually have several nativity scenes in various forms. We bought at least one, but my husband's aunt know we are Christian, so she likes to give us nativity scene

We usually take down our Christmas decorations New Year's Eve or New Year's day, maybe the weekend following

Do you usewhite lights or colored lights on your tree?
Tree came with white lights attached
What is your tree topper? star now use to have a spire pointing towards heaven but it doesn't fit new tree
Do you put up a nativity scene? Yes it goes up even when nothing else does, bought it our 2nd Christmas married.

The older I get the less I do. I used to have trees in every room.
I usually begin the weekend after Thanksgiving. I cut fresh greens & place them in my windowboxes. I usually add red bows. Then the lighted wreath goes up. Next the same items, but on the mailbox.

I have an advent wreath my mom made for us.

We have a small artificial tree with colored lights. I just keep it in the garage with a trash bag over it. DH loves colored lights, so I let him have them. All we do is bring it in & remove the bag. Doesn't take anytime.

I keep a creche in my China cupboard all year.

We usually take down things around Jan.6th.

I live in a really small apartment, and I'm always visiting my parents out of state for actual Christmas, so I don't go crazy, but I do enjoy putting up a small tree.

I usually decorate right after Thanksgiving.

I just have a little 3.5 ft artificial tree. Growing up we had real ones for many years until my parents just too too tired of dealing with the mess. I can't see myself ever wanting to deal with all of that!

My tree has colored lights.

My tree topper is an angel.

I don't have my own nativity scene. However, when I was little I always made a big fuss about setting up the one at my parent's house. They still ask me to do it for tradition's sake . I also go home for Thanksgiving, so I'm usually there when they're decorating.

I'm not usually in a rush to take things down. I'll get back into town right before NYE and then will have about another week off of school. I'll take the tree down sometime that week.

When do you decorate?
No set date..usually a Saturday in December.

What kind of tree do you have?
We have a 12 foot, pre-lit artificial tree

Do you use white lights or colored lights on your tree?
Because the rest of the tree is obnoxious, we went with white lights. And it is truly obnoxious! All deep jewel tones, tons of glitter and sequins. My husband says it looks like Liberace threw up.

What is your tree topper?
An enormous gold star covered in gold glitter. I SAID it was obnoxious!

Do you put up a nativity scene?
No, we stick to secular decorations.

When do you take down your decorations?
December 26, because my daughter's birthday is Dec 27 and we want her day to be 100% untainted by XMAS.

We usually decorate the week after Thanksgiving. We always buy a live tree and if we get it too early, it dies (the WORST).
We use colored lights - we bought the Tree Dazzler last year and I LOVE it!
We have a star, but I think we might buy something different this year. It's not in very good shape. With the Tree Dazzler, we can't put something that lights up because it can't plug into the lights. I like the top hat tree toppers, so I might get one of those.
I do put up a nativity scene - my mom got me a Fontanini set a few years ago.
We take our decorations down very shortly after New Year's.
