Ideas for December assembly

So each teacher is in charge of leading one all school assembly per year. Mine is the week of December 18th, right before we get out for Christmas Break! One teacher is already doing holidays around the world, so that is out. My class has to participate. What could I do for December instead? Thanks in advance!

Can your class perform a readers theater? There are many free scripts available online.

A holiday singalong. We used to always do the 12 Days of Christmas, and would have a student(s) come up to act out a motion for each of the 12 days as we sang it.

Sing Along

Type the songs into a PowerPoint that can be flashed onto the gym wall.

Have the music teacher play the songs.

Everyone sings.

Assembly

Not sure how your assemblies are structured, but how about a theme around “the gift of love”. Maybe the music teacher could teach your group a heartwarming song to sing or the kids could write poetry to read aloud. Maybe they could do some kind of acts of kindness presentation (see YouTube examples of how one act of kindness leads to another) and make a video of all the acts of kindness they participated in(visiting a seniors centre or making Christmas cards for them, helping someone on the playground, etc...). Who doesn’t like their heart strings pulled at this time of year. It’s how Hallmark makes their money
