Hi all,
Does anyone know the monthly curriculum for 4th grade engage ny math? If not, what are 4th graders learning in math at the end of November? Any ideas for a demo lesson in 4th grade math at the end of November would be very much appreciated!! Thank you!😊😊😊

We are doing multiplication and division right now.

For division the stanard algorithm up to for digits. So 4368 / 2.

For multiplication two digit by two digit.

Factors, multiples are coming up next week for me.

You can view the modules online. Look at module 3, about lesson 20 and on.

Engage NY? I teach in WA state but our pen pals are from New York. I asked the teacher about engage and she said it is horrible. I looked online at some of the things and it looks really complicated. What are your thoughts?

We use Georgia Math plus our own supplemental materials.

It took a good year to get used to the program and figure it out, like any program. But, now that I am on year 3 of using it, I love it. The sequence of lessons are great, they build upon the skills from day one. I feel like we are building a fantastic number sense. The kids understand why we do something, more than just skill and drill using the standard algorithm.

My grandchildren in NY use it and their math skills surpass what I would have expected from kids that age. They have "number sense." We are in our 3rd year of it. Our test scores are the highest ever.

The curriculum is very dense. We struggled to realize that we can't cover absolutely everything in the time allowed. There are too many worksheets, in my opinion. So we cover the topics but don't complete every worksheet.

Right now I am mid-Module 3. The kids really caught on quickly to the two-digit area module of multiplication.

I googled it once and it looked overwhelming. I guess if your scores are high though something must be working.

My kids struggle sooooo much with number sense! 😔
