Card: Christmas

Clip to ScrapBook #1

This is the prototype for my Christmas card this year. The only thing I think I will do differently is not pop up the "on Earth." I think it looks a little silly being the only thing popped up.

I started by stamping Our Daily Bread Designs Snowflake Background with VersaMark ink on Tim Holtz Watercolor Cardstock and embossing with white embossing powder. I used 2 blues from Gansai Tambi Watercolor paints on top of the embossed image. Once dry, I cut that piece in half to do 2 cards. Peace on Earth is from Hero Arts Peace Stamp & Cut. It comes with a die. I used the die and cut the 1/4" strip from Hobby Lobby Silver Glitter Cardstock. On Earth was stamped with Tsukineko Delicata Silvery Shimmer ink. Inside sentiment, Merry Christmas/Love, hope & joy to you always is Stampabilities Merry Christmas Always from Hobby Lobby.

I'll need to make about 20 cards total. They will need to wait until a week from now as I am playing piano in a concert next Sunday afternoon and really need to focus on preparation for that this next week.

Wow you are brave! I can't even write on that many cards more or less make them!! Many steps to make that card- you must really have a system.

One question- how do you hold the die cut -peace on the card....I'm new to die cuts.

Beautiful card! We have friends who have a Christmas card "contest" in which they choose a winner of the best card they receive. Yours would be a winner!

Hold the die cut

I use tiny dots of Multi Medium Matte adhesive. I have replaced the tip that the bottle comes with with the tip from Quilled Creations Precision Tip Glue Applicator Bottle. After placing the glued die on the card, I place an acrylic stamping block on it to weight it down. If any of the glue happens to seep out from under, it is not visible.

Update

My update consists of changing the paper of on Earth from white to the same blue as the blue layer, and stamping it with VersaMark and white embossing powder to be heat embossed.

I've even managed to make 8 of them this week in addition to practicing my piano pieces.

I really like this card.
The message and the colour combo are both timeless!

Thanks for explaining how you glue on the die cut papers.

I have seen a little glue pen- which I've purchased but I seem to be so slow that it appears to dry before I can get it on the card. I will try this.

Thanks for always encouraging and explaining your techniques-- you've helped me grow in my skills.

Gluing die cuts

The Multi Matte Medium is thicker than those glue pens. I've had the same results - that they dry before I get them in place or there is just not enough adhesive to do the job.
