Reading Day Reward

Clip to ScrapBook #1

This is like a Christmas Break gift to myself. My students earned reading day reward. Somehow it fell on the last day before break... They are sprawled around the room in jammies, cozied up with pillow, blankets and snacks. We have a video of a crackling fire going on the board and quiet instrumental music playing. I'm getting papers graded with minimal student management. Ahhhhh

What a perfect scenario. I wish I had thought of that when I was teaching.

Beautiful. I love when that happens.

It brings back wonderful memories when I had my own classroom and students would rejoice for a whole hour of AR time for a reward. I'm not sure that the students at our school would even consider this a reward. They all have one on one computers and games are considered a reward. So sad. . .

Never thought about reading day reward . . .love it.

I sprinkle in read alouds, poetry, partner reading, and we played a Christmas Carol synonym game yesterday. They don't have the stamina for a whole day of independent reading. But I will say the kids really love it and often choose that reward more than once a year.
