If you have unused Time for Kids or Scholastic News, save them for subs. You can use them for reading groups, writing time or science/social studies time.

I need to freshen up my sub stuff so I can leave 2-3 days' worth of activities, lessons and worksheets for "just in case" use. I'm brainstorming some ideas, and I'll look on Super Teacher Worksheets and ReadWorks too. Got any good ideas or resources that worked for you? Please share them and/or the links. (This would work for blizzard bags, too.)

I print out articles from Readworks and type up questions.

I leave math games that my students know how to play.

I type up generic writing ideas.

I leave read aloud that I don’t have saved for something else.

I take a nonfiction book and create an activity to go with it.

We have Reading A to Z so I copy books and the discussion questions to leave for reading groups.

I leave fun pages for fillers

I printed out ‘which would you rather’ cards for a filler

The last thing is I take pictures of my room and have my current students write about that part of the room. All of it goes into a sub 3-ring by binder. Authentic writing activity.
