My last two orders from Amazon could have fit in something smaller than a shoebox but came in a box that would fit a queen size comforter! What is up with that?
I order 4 four packs of a protein drink through subscribe and save every month, along with several other items. This month they put the protein drinks in 3 different boxes! In one enormous box was ONE 4 pack (so smaller than a 6 pack of soda) and a micro so card!! I almost missed the sd card in a little envelope due to all the packing material they had to add! Good thing I checked the order tracking to see that it had already arrived.
Yesterday I got 2 one pound bags of coffee, one 4 pack of protein drink, and flea drops for my cats (so another small item) in another huge box. ????
I read an article recently that explained it supposedly has to do with a complicated computer system that tracks what will be going out on the same shipment. It chooses a box that will strategically fit in place with other boxes in the same truck so it is filled up with few gaps. So they often need a bigger box to fill a hole in the truck shipment even if the product is small.
Not sure how true that is but it seems to make sense!
The box is 18 by 22 by 12 inches deep. Again, I don't know why they split up my 4 packs of protein drink into 3 different boxes, but the explanation of picking a box to fill the space on the truck does make *some* sense
They won't put my stuff in a box. I have had so many damaged items from Amazon. I have repeatedly told them that picture books don't go in padded envelopes. Every time they send a padded envelope, I get a bent book!
