My district is looking to replace our Smartboards. We are looking at the following type of boards: Smart TV, Promethean Boards, Clear Touch, Dell, Jamboards (Google). What experience do you have with any of these boards? What's good? What's bad? Do you know if the Smart files from Smart Notebook (the software that is used with a Smartboard) is compatible with any of these boards? We have heard that the Promethean Boards accept Smart files.

Thanks for your input.

I have had a Promethean Board for years. I pretty much only use it to project and as a white board.

I had a Promethean Board during student teaching. I liked it because you didn't have to orient it as often as you do Smart Boards, and it still had many of the interactive and touch capabilities. Plus, there was only one pen, so no lost pens floating around the room.

What I didn't like about it is that if that one pen decides not to work, you can't use the board except to project! And (at the time I had one) it was difficult to get tech support and new pens for.

I believe that the Promethean boards could input Smart files and Powerpoints. But some of the animations didn't always cross over correctly.

I would double check, as it's been 5 years since I've used my Promethean.
