Voice levels.

Losing.My.Mind.
It doesn't matter how often we practice, how often I remind them, how clear I am with my expectations: my class can NOT maintain the respective voice level.
If I say voice level 2, they are almost yelling. If I set it at a level 1 (whisper), they talk at a level 2. If I say level 0 (no talking), they whisper.
It's maddening, and I don't know what else to do.
I'm tired of reminding them every 30 seconds of what their voice level should be.
I've tried practicing, staying in at recess to practice, reminders. Nothing seems to work.

I. Feel. Your. Pain. Following to see if anyone can offer a solution. For my class it's also continuing to talk immediately after I ask them to list to instructions. Not even a pause.

I've resorted to, "Why are you yelling at me?" (or whomever they are "yelling" at (talking to) -insert name of choice).

It really gets them thinking! They don't realize how loud they are, honestly.

I've been saying it all week and it has made a difference!
