Clip to ScrapBook #1

All day today I've been feeling like poo. By time afternoon came and first grade arrived my head was killing me.

I mentioned it to a couple of them, and one my boys patted my arm, and said, "Why don't you just go ahead and go home at the end of your shift?" 😆😆

What funny stuff's been happening to you lately?

Such a cute story! I hope you went straight home when your shift was over.

I'm retired, so this story is old. I was walking in the hallway with my first-grade class and putting on my coat and whistle as I got ready for playground duty.

One little fellow said happily, "I'm so glad you get a break today, like us!" I told him "thank you" and didn't let him know this was hardly my break!

This one is from November...
We watched a Scholastic News video about veterans. They were jumping out of planes and doing other adventurous things.
A student in my class said, "My mom said she used to be a veteran, but she said she just stopped eating meat."

I teach high school, so this isn’t as cute, but it was touching...

I had a chemistry student who was struggling with the material, but very determined to master the subject. He often came in after school for extra help. One late afternoon, after working with him for about an hour, I stood up and hobbled over to my coat.

“Do you have arthritis, Mrs. T?” he asked.

So perceptive—not many 16 yo boys would have noticed.

He ended up with a B in my class, went to college and got his BS in nursing.

He came back to visit me his freshman year in college to tell me he got an A in chemistry, showed his professor the way I taught equation balancing, and was making extra cash tutoring his friends who were struggling in chem.

One day my 5 year olds were discussing their parents' jobs. One looked over at me and asked, "Do you have a job Mrs. E?"

Today was the 100th day of school. Everyone was invited to dress up like they were 100 years old. One of our kinders walked up to the assistant (dressed in her normal, every day clothing) and asked, "Are you 100 today?"

One of my students told me that he knew what his friend was going to say. "You must be psychic," I said. "I know" he replied "I am a side kick".
