Touchscreen Promethean Board - Help!

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Iíve just received a new touch screen Promethean board in my classroom. This is all brand new to me and Iíve gotten zero training. (Iím told some will come). Iím relatively tech-savy. Iíve only had it for a few days. There are no apps installed yet; so Iíve mostly only used it as a white board and internet browser (lame, I know ) I started to play around with it today after school, but could use some guidance. (I teach 3rd grade) That being said...

What do you like about it? What do you use it for prodominately? What are your favorite programs or apps? TIA

I have one. I use it mainly as a white board (although I love that I can save files and notes) and internet browser.

It really takes too long to put things together to use with it. I just don't have time to build fancy flipcharts. Or time in class to use them.

Itís been a while Iíll since Iíve used it, as we had all ours pulled out, but there is a website with tons of premade resources on it that you can just download to use with their software. Might be good for some inspiration.

They had all their stuff on Promethean planet, but it looks like they have gone toward something called Classflow. I really don't like the way it works. You don't download things, you use them from online. It just isn't as easy to check things out or preview them for me.

I can do a few tricks with it, but I don't use most of the fancy stuff. Isn't worth my time.

You can get a free account to Classflow. This has several free premade flipchart lessons.

I enjoy showing Nat Geo videos on a the big screen.

Thanks for the additional ideas.

Iíve tried Classflow - itís ok. Iím still just noodling around on it.

I have started using Duolingo with my class. They really like using the touchscreen.

Anything that a child could do with a mouse on computer or touch on iPad can be done on the Promethean Board. I often use Quizlet and other interactive activities with the class. I also line the students up and have them take turns answering.
