Yogi didn't make it through the night.

He was in such distress. I'm not surprised. The plumber just finished the job. He and I were out in the garage waiting for him to get a hold of someone from dispatch to clear the credit card. It took a while. I felt like telling the guy I need to check on my dog but decided to stay. After signing the paperwork I came in and found Yogi dead in the family room right by the door to the garage. My wife is out a choir practice so she doesn't know yet.

I've wrapped Yogi and placed him in the garage but I have no idea what to do next. I have to leave early for work tomorrow and so does my wife. I don't want him laying in the garage all day, but I have no clue what to do.

Oh, so sorry! We have lost three best friend dogs, and buried then all in the yard. But, we live in the woods.

We lost one when we lived in a city area, and animal control took his remains. I don’t want to know what they did with him.

Try Rattie’s idea. Give your wife an extra hug. You both need it right now!

Iím sorry Since your previous post blamed yourself for screwing up the meds I just want to say please donít feel guilty. The quick decline showed the disease had progressed in spite of the meds. You followed the vets advice and you did what you could for him.

I'm so sorry. I'd call the emergency vet also or even your own vet.

Please don't blame yourself - obviously, the disease had progressed rapidly and the meds might not have even made much of a difference.

(((hugs))) for your family tonight.

Heart felt sorrow. . . . You can bury him in your yard but it needs to be very deep . . .My soil was clay so my ex buried him at his house in Rialto while I was at work. I would take the advice from ppters and call the emergency vet.

so sorry for your loss of Yogi, Hifi.

My dog had congestive heart failure too and despite meds went downhill quickly. As Munchkins said, the meds only bought a little time, so please donít blame yourself. Take care.

I am so sorry for your loss. I just commented on your original post, somehow I missed this one until now. The plumbing issue took you away from Yogi during his final minutes, but that couldn't be helped. I will pray for you and your wife.

Sounds like you had a very loyal dog.

have you considered having your dog cremated and ashes returned to you?

Since his last wish was to be close to you, and he tried, having his ashes returned to you might be one way of having his wish come true.

I am so sorry you lost Yogi. Please don't blame yourself. He was on borrowed time, and you gave him the gift of a family during his senior years. He knows he was loved.

If you haven't already contacted anyone. The vet will guide you. Our little guy who had congestive heart failure is buried in our backyard. Our other dogs we left at the vet and just took the collar.

Oh Hifi! I’m so sorry to hear of Yogi’s passing. I was out at our regional spelling bee last night and I just read your first post. I thought I’d look for an update before responding. Losing a pet is never easy. Meds can only do so much and often stop working before we are ready for it. I, too, wouldn’t want mine in the garage all day. I think it is going to be a long day for you. Sending peaceful thoughts.

It's so hard to lose a pet. I am sorry you are going through this.

I guess the vet would be the person to call if you do not bury pets in your yard? We used to do that when I was growing up... and I've wondered what I would do in the same situation since I live in a townhouse community now.

I'm sorry.

I am so sorry. I know how it feels as I lost my second Doberman at age eight to congestive heart failure, the first signs of which were a cough and lack of energy. She, too, was on several pricy meds but even then went downhill fast. You did the best you could for Yogi who is now at peace. Heart disease is tough.

For a fee, most vet clinics can either dispose of the body or have the remains cremated and returned to you. Or you can bury him in your yard and plant a lovely bush or tree there in his memory.

I am sorry for the loss of Yogi. I know he was loved and has left many memories on many hearts.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
