from when I was subbing during a vacation (our district used to have both traditional and year-round schedules, so we could work as subs in the traditional schools during our month-long breaks). It was hilarious then and still is:

Quote:
Dear Teacher of Grade 4/5 Combo Class:

Please don't ask me to read a book entitled, "George Washington's Breakfast," which is the story of a young boy who becomes obsessed with finding out what our first president ate for breakfast. Who knew that George Washington started his day with "three hoecakes and three cups of tea?" I was hoping the kids weren't really listening and that if I just said it fast, no one would notice.

But then came these gems: "I don't have the slightest idea what a hoecake is." "Grandma, I think there's a hoe in our basement." "I really don't think we should try to make the hoecakes on a real hoe." "Son, did you actually see a hoe in George Washington's kitchen?"

Oh, yes, the kids were listening. They were ROFL their little asses off as I tried my best to keep a straight face and read as fast as those disclaimers at the end of car commercials.

Seriously, Teach. I am begging you.

I am literally laughing out loud! I just had to read it to DH because he asked from the family room what was so funny!
