Catholic school closing

Clip to ScrapBook #1

We got the news today that the school in a neighboring town is closing! They were, when I first started at my school, twice as big with two of each grade. All along, Ive been afraid we would close first. We had tons of school tours, phone calls and a fair amount of applications by 10:30!

My first thought was for the parents, quickly followed by staff of school. Our school is like a family, Im sure theirs is as well. Heartbreaker for them, Im sure. This does bode well for us, though. We were notified a couple of weeks ago that wed be able to keep all current teachers, but there would be cuts in aides for lower grades.

Please send a good thought or prayer for both schools.

That's always so sad when a school closes. How many classes per grade do you have?

I know exactly what it's like. Been there, did that. Did not enjoy it one bit. It's very difficult to say good-bye to a school that becomes a family.

I don't think I've ever really gotten past it on some level. Sending prayers for both school communities.

I am so sorry. This is a problem in many parts of the country. Our Catholic schools are hanging in there, but some are struggling. The advent of Charter Schools has been hard on those schools that charge tuition. People are not as concerned about a religious influence any more. Hugs to all involved.
