Help! I have three computers in my classroom, 21 students and trying to figure out how to schedule them in for math and/or reading/language arts enrichment. How do you schedule students? How do you get all of the sites up and bookmarked- do I have to do each one individually or is theire a quick way to ransfer websites that are bookmarked on one computer to the others? Thanks for any and all organizational and technology tips!!!!!

I teach a self-contained class of 23 students w/3 computers. Each morning during "Early Work" time (7:30 - 8:15), I excuse three students from EW and let them go to the computer. I have folders set up on the desktop according to the day of the week. The students know which folder to go to and they work through whatever is in the folder. It has worked well for me. I have their names written on the board along with the EW assignment. They are responsible for going to their EW folder and writing "excused-computer time" for me. That way when I grade EW for the week, I am able to give them credit for the time that they spent on the computer. Included in the folder on the computer is a Math, Language, Spelling, and Reading activity for the students to work through. We use Trophies Reading Series so I always bookmark that site so they will be exposed to the focus skills that I am teaching in Reading and Language for the week. Hope this helps you. It has worked well for me. Even though each student does not get "computer time" each week. They are able to go at least every 8th day, and I try to give them extra computer time during the day when all their work is finished.

center time

I use my computers for center time. They rotate so that each child has time during the week to be on. You can bookmark your site in a folder on your desktop. Then copy the folder to a CD or Flash Drive and download it to each pc. We have a shared folder for our building, so I can just drag stuff there and download it to individual computers that way. I also have a web page so most of my stuff is there. You might try using a web based bookmark site and loading them there. You can create folders and have the kids access them that way too.

We also do webquests during the year so the kids get on the computer that way and work in groups of four. I also take my kids to the lab once a week for an extra computer time aside from their scheduled time with the lab teacher.

Try bookmarking them on portaportal.com

you can set up an account (free) to set bookmarks for your kids. They log in with guest access from home or school. You might have a folder for each kid if they're all at different levels, or a pink, green or yellow folder, then you only have to tell kids what folder to try.
