Gen.C2 Help!

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Hi
My question is about which components to retake. My total weighted scaled score is 81. To pass I need to have weighted scaled score of 110. My lowest score was 1.00 in C2, for C3 and C4 I got 2.00 scores. I need help to make the best decision and make a choice of which is the safest way to get 110 points?

I was thinking of retaking C2 since that was my lowest score, and also retake C4 to be on the safe side?

Would you help me?

What were your scores on C1?

I would re-take C2 and C3...let C4 ride. My reasoning: C2 score is low, so you have lots of room to improve. C3 is the same score as C4, but worth twice as much. I'd also re-take any sections of C1 that are a 2 or lower.

Hope this helps and best luck to you!

If you have the time, I would redo all parts. Given that you dont know how you will do on the retake, you canít take your chances. What have you started already on your retake?

I would definitely retake Component 2. Make sure you provide evidence and more importantly how you differentiated.
Component 4 was really tough. I would use your video and rewrite your paper.
Unless, you want to do 4 and make sure you provide evidence on how it related to the students success.
Good Luck

I missed it by 2 points. received a 108 and needed a 110. I'm rewriting component 2.

My understanding is that in order to certify you have to have a minimum 1.75 on each component, so I think it is a given that you need to redo Comp2. Like others have said, play around with the calculator. I, personally, don't think redoing C 4 is worth the effort. I'd focus on C3. I know it is a bummer to have to redo a component or two, but C3 will probably be less stressful second time around since you've figured out all the recording issues. Good luck!

Nope, that's old school. It is now an average 1.75 across the components.

Thank you for your information, it sure makes me continue.

I was confused on what about the scores and grading. All in all I need to have 110 points to pass. I am second language learner and writing its not my forte. But I will plan well to produce the work it is needed. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can plan to plan for components 2, 3,, and 4?

your help is much appreciated

Zia- the weighted scoring is really confusing for me. Obviously I'm striving for 4s all around, but I like to have the worst case scenario in my back pocket. Are you saying that an AVERAGE of 1.75 on each component = a weighted score of 110?

The weighted score in all 4 components has to be at least 2.65 in each one to get the 110. I checked. You have to have a 1.75 in each of them to NOT have to take it over. So for example you could get a 2.65 on two of the four and a 1.75 on the third component and a 3.75 on the fourth component and still get your 110.

No. Not even close. In the old days, each component needed a minimum score of 1.75 to be considered for certification. That has been changed in this new version to be an average of 1.75 across the components.

If someone got a 1.75 on each component, s/he would not certify. There are many paths to that magic 110. Play with the score calculator.

Here are the criteria to pass:

Component 1 has to be at least 1.75.

Comp 2-4 has to have an overall average of at least 1.75.

A combine score in all comps of at least 110 points.

Yes, that is the information the guide provides, however, its confusing between the score 1.75 to pass, and obtaining the 110 total points. In order to get 110 points I need to score more over 3.00 points on all three components.

So, yes, I will keep going. right now I am on the planing process. I want to plan a unit that serves all three components, c-2 differentiation in writing and incorporate a lesson cohesive for students to produce writing, and also for C-4

I will keep coming for advise. Thank you so much

Play with the score calculator. There are many paths to certification. Many folks with 2.25 on various components certify.
