Anyone here trying to achieve certification in AYA Biology? I haven't been able to locate anyone on this board doing this cert. Please reply if you are.

Hey Kaker, you are not alone. I just did a happy dance during punnett square practice problems at the whiteboard.

Best,

Awesome!!
Iíve done all components and now am trying to retake C1 & C3. The best thing is that Iíve learned so very much from all this, even if I donít get a stipend like every one else. My students have surpassed their own expectations. Iím just achieving this certification for myself as my private a school doesnít really see this certification as a ďqualityĒ that is necessary.

Well this is my first attempt at certification. I am done with C3 & C4, waiting to schedule a test date for C1 and finishing C2. Trying to do it all this year. Happy to hear Iím not the only AYA Science. Iím on the public side, in a state that does not provide a stipend. But I have the support of my district and administration. Iím the first one to go through the process and submit. My kids have grown so much since August, excited to wrap it all up!

Let me know if you have any questions or advice!

Wow, that is one big mountain to go over. Best advice is be positive and trust your gut, since this is for the studentís benefit primarily in making us better teachers.

This is a very intimidating process, I struggled until I started writing, rereading the prompts and rewriting. I am struggling with component 2 because I feel it overlaps with what I did in component four. But I have a few months to put it together.

One thing to note too is that C1 and C3 are the two that weigh the most heavily on certifying or not achieving certification. Good luck!
