Root canal

I’ve never had one. My tooth is dying! I only want positive responses. They are giving me Valium to take 30 minutes before. I’m super nervous. Help!! Why oh why does this have to be this week? What was your experience? Most dental offices are closed except for emergencies. They consider this An emergency...

My root canal was a breeze. Take the Valium. I don't remember much about the procedure.

I did need someone to drive me to the appointment and then home because of the Valium.

I've had several. I've always been numbed really well and have never felt the root canal itself. The worst part, for me, is when they do the numbing shots.

After it's over, I think you will wonder why you were so nervous.

My dentist did the root canal in her office. I it took quite a while in the chair, but I had no pain while she did it and little pain after.

Thank you for the positive response. I just wish the procedure had a different name! You have both made me feel more positive. Bless you both! I don’t mean to be such a big baby...

The only pain for me with my root canal was my copay!😁😁
Never had any pain and the tooth was in bad shape. The whole procedure will be explained to you before they even start working on the tooth.
Please let us know how it went for you! You will be fine.

I have only had one done. My first appointment, I thought the dentist was just looking at it. After awhile he said, that’s all for today. He was actually working on it ! I had no pain at all.

Good morning to all-
I had my first root canal done over my planning and prep hour one day. I was back at school and teaching my 9th graders right after the procedure. There was pain involved, but it came from the 9th graders, not the root canal.
Just about anything is better than a really hurting tooth.

good day to all- Ed

Root Canal

I've had three root canals, and none of them were painful. The only challenge is sitting with your mouth open for a long period of time.

I hope all goes well.

Is most definitely painful!! The root canal is $1,500 and the crown to cover it after is $1,000. Ouch...probably more painful than the procedure, gradymidget. They do take credit cards so Iíll get the points. Ha ha.

your mouth open, my dentist uses a little rubber block to hold your mouth open so your jaw doesn't really get tired. She also takes little breaks to see that you are doing okay. She even gave me a break while she massaged my jaw.
Let us know how it goes for you.

I've had three root canals and they were a breeze. I go to an endodontist who is amazing. He is really an expert. I bet you have a good experience. Good luck and let us know how it goes for you!

A female one who has fabulous reviews. Her support staff has been fabulous. She works closely with my regular dentist. My neighbor said his procedure with her was painless. Hope mine is too...

I am happy to hear that you are going to an endodontist. My first root canal was done a regular (my former) dentist. One year later I had extreme pain again. I went to another dentist and he saw that there was a root left behind! He recommended a wonderful specialist. She was amazing! No problems afterwards.
Take care!

Yes, root canals are emergencies...... because if your tooth becomes abscessed, it is extreme PAIN! I’ve had several root canals. They are not pleasant at the time. (I hate that helpless feeling of being in a dentist’s chair at their mercy.). BUT it will be so worth it!’ My teeth with root canals work perfectly.....and I barely remember that I had any work done on those teeth. And they last a long, long time! Know everything will go great! Let us know!

The hardest thing is the shots for the numbing pain. Good luck!
