Hi! I am having a zoom meeting with my kindergartens next week. We did a scavenger hunt for our last meeting which was really fun. Iím looking for another fun activity to do with them. Any ideas?

I've done mystery bag. I gave phonics clue to spell a word to figure out the item.
I've done I Spy. I used an image from a Google search and shared my screen. They had to use oral language to help me find their object (positional words).

Yikes! I should remember what else I've done. That's only 2 out if 7!

We've done a couple of scavenger hunts - one was for language arts (we were working with syllables) and one for math (go get 4 spoons and 3 forks - write an equation to show it).

Tomorrow we are doing sight word bingo. We sent out the bingo board for them to print.

Freeze dance party.

I was thinking of doing a memory game where I show them a tray of objects, then take one or two away and they try to remember what was there. Either that or show the tray, then hide it and they draw everything they remember.

Oh man - I'm trying to remember what else we've done and am drawing a blank!

Some of the things I've done are:
  • scavenger hunt
  • mystery box
  • had a mystery reader
  • did a "Wiggle with Me" story(Before the story, I showed them actions to do for certain words. Then I read the story. When they heard the words, they had to do the actions.)
  • "Which one doesn't belong?" My kids like doing that activity. I had 4 things on the screen. 3 belong together and 1 doesn't. There is more than one correct answer. I challenge them to come up with as many solutions as they can. i.e.
  • big red circle, big red cube, small red square and big green rectangle
  • I just did individual Google Meets where I shared a book on the screen and had the child read the book to me.

One of my colleagues has done:
  • show and tell
  • author's chair
  • played pictionary
  • flat teacher

Great prior ideas

In my whole group zoom meets we begin with the flag salute, school pledge, Dr. Jean's rules (we change to the rules of the household instead of classroom). I have done mostly reading/writing lessons but I also have

1) invited the PE specialist 3 times to give 10-15min. PE lesson
2) invited our school counselor for a cute social/emotional activity
3) Do a quick kids zumba dance. (They love to watch you dance)
4) invited our school nurse to come on to do a quick hand washing song, wearing mask best practices

This week is my last week on zoom and I'm doing a time capsule lesson . I'll let you know how it goes! I'm sneaking in a
3-d shape lesson on their containers.

I'm looking for ideas too! We are in the home stretch (2 more weeks!) and I think we all are losing steam. I know I am!

I have done Mystery Bag, Scavenger hunts, and played some card games we did at school: Where is Mrs. VivianCP? and Alligator, Alligator. The card games do take some set up time, though.

Today I had a Mad-Lib. Kids LOVED it. We did two as a group! Granted I only had 11 kids there.

How did you present the lesson? It sounds wonderful.
