I have 2 petty vents:
1) Reply all should be disabled. People do not know how to use it properly.
2) I believe that the brand new teacher, new to district and new to teaching should be going between 2 buildings, not the teacher that's been in the district (granted a whopping 6 months, but still).

Ok, please share your petty vents to make me feel a little better.

Did we really need to fill that coaching position right at this very second? Especially when we have three core-class openings?

Don't expect me to make the aides check their email. They did not check it during normal times.

I am just fine with limiting parent communication to one platform and once a week. But if there is an issue, don't ask me if I have contacted the parent before you do something or you accuse me of something.

The schedule for this weekís professional development days is out. It is unclear if it is even necessary for me as an assistant to go to some of these things as they donít relate to me at all. They should list who needs to be at each session.

No one will know their assignments for the all online school, or any other regular schedule until possibly Friday when school starts the following Monday. I asked if I could teach music for the all online school. I would have two days to get ready. They also have separate professional development sessions for the online school. When will those happen if the teachers for the school donít find out until Friday and school is supposed to start on Monday?

I interviewed for a job teaching music at an upscale daycare and preschool. It was the shortest interview ever and I had to call the interviewer to tell her I was on zoom waiting for her. She did apologize and log on as soon as we got off the phone though. After the interview she said that one of the directors would be in touch and would answer any further questions I had about the job. They donít seem very organized. Though it seems like no one is right now.

Our specialists can't figure out how they're doing online learning. Some are making pages, some are using google classroom, and one point blank just sent out a google meets invite for the year and told us to share it with parents and students as that will be their class time.

Um...no. Specialists all need to do the same thing or parents are going to be so confused and I am not fielding those questions. Admin needs to step in and make sure they're being consistent.

We start in 1.5 weeks, a week later than usual. No class list yet and no communication as to what our hybrid model expectations are or how to setup our classrooms.

I am usually in there by now on a pretty regular basis getting everything set up. Haven't been in once and I'm not asking about it. I assume when they have a plan they will let us know. Weirdest start in 35 years!

In the grand scheme of all that's going on, this is very petty. But I'm pretty sure we're about to witness the end of the snow day, at least for this year. We didn't get many anyway, but still.

Students are taking their devices and supplies home every single night in case we have to suddenly go remote/their cohort is suddenly quarantined. I'm guessing that "snow days" are now just remote learning days. I thought it wouldn't work out that way because students wouldn't have all of their stuff ready, but it appears they will...

And another thing. I'm pretty sure a huge percentage of kids aren't responsible enough to bring this stuff back and forth every day. That will be fun to deal with at school, when they're forcing us to make most things electronic even for in person, and half of the students have forgotten their device at home.

That is a good point about snow days. I hadn't considered that.

The reply all issue reminds me of a few years back when reply button on our district email system randomly and inexplicably became a reply all button. People were obliviously clicking there out of habit. It was a hellish couple of weeks before most people figured out how to change their setting fix it.

We start back next week. A class list would be nice.

Also, can we hire a tech person who, like, actually knows technology? I mean, if you're the tech person and you can't figure out how to share a google doc, what does that mean for how you'll support me during virtual learning??

Is this the year to evaluate whether or not to fill the newly empty tech coordinator position? Really?

Dear Admin,

If you had been paying attention and doing your research, (like I did - one of your teachers) you could have ordered some of those Merv 13 filters way back in July. I KNOW in spite of what you told me, that they weren't ordered until maybe last week. Your custodian talks too much.

If you had gotten them on time, and installed, you wouldn't have to be looking for a new teacher.

Sincerely,
Letsgomets

31 students in 3rd period? We are in a pandemic. I know we are virtual now as requested by the governor but all of the students are scheduled to be in person at the end of Sept.

Someone at our county office of education caused a disastrous internet outage this morning causing thousands and thousands of students and teachers meeting virtually to lose connections.

Since we use Google Meets, the students were in control of the virtual meetings. When the connection was restored, only a few students returned for lessons.

Another messed up day.

Administration in power don't think of tech issues for virtual learning. If you have an entire district of kids log on at the same time, there will be bandwidth issues, and apparently no one wants to think about this. ;-/

Congratulations on having the free time and skills to make a completely amazing interactive Bitmoji classroom for our start in 2 weeks. Now admin is in awe and expecting all of us to be that innovative. You gave me a YouTube to watch about setting one up and cheerfully chirped that it only took you an hour. Took me an hour to make the dang Bitmoji character. I typically show out and spend weeks prepping an awesome physical classroom. This tech mess is not my strength and I have zero patience for it. Still don't know a daily schedule, how many periods or kids I'll have....it's frustrating indeed.

Anyone out there got a college kid who's super at computers and wants to make some $$ setting up a virtual classroom for me?

Hah!

Do you work in my district?

Three times a year, every year, the majority of the district logs in at the same time to do MAP testing.

Three times a year, every year, the system crashes and it takes at least two days to get it back up and running.

I'm so over the reply all ridiculousness. It has been pointed out that when accessing email with a phone, if you reply, it defaults to reply all. That's proven by tech smart people who mistakenly do this and then send a second email apologizing for the unintentional first reply all.

It's the people who try to be cute when they reply all that annoy the most. No, the entire district does not need to be aware of your opinion or what you assume is a marvelous idea.

SoDone- we are busy building an entire online curriculum so we did not do bitmoji anything this year.

Iím pretty good with technology but having curriculum/content is much more important than cute! Our principal is crazy with many things but I canít see her requiring that.

That said, I do have templates for bitmoji classrooms somebody sent me that I could use to help you?

My district brought us wipes to our classrooms. At first I was excited and grateful, until I saw they were personal, flushable wipes. Not Lysol wipes or disinfectant wipes, but flushable wipes.
