Feeling overwhelmed!

We are given a daily lesson plan to follow. That part is great.👍 However, the pace and amount is crazy. No flex days built in or testing days. The curriculum guide doesn't give us any assessments either. They apparently want the teachers to create them. Yet don't give you any days to assess. We are expected to keep the pace and teach everything! How do you handle a heavy load like that? I'm skipping some things just to keep up, but I also feel I need to spend time on things the class doesn't understand.

I'm really lucky, I've never had that. What are your teammates doing? I'm just salty enough that I'd be emailing the moron who created it and ask what the plan is when the class needs more practice and when they want you to assess. I hate when the powers that be create stuff like this with no thought for flex days, days off, assessments, etc. You MUST have buffer days built in.

If all else fails, do what you need to do and ask forgiveness later.

I agree with you. We are all swamped. I did put in a note in a survey I was given. I really am trying to do as much as I can. But I do have to do what's best for my kids. Makes no sense to me. Are we teaching quantity over quality?
