My district has an early retirement stipend that is good for up to seven years for people who have been in district 20+ years ( 32 years in district for me). I had to apply by December 1st. Got the word today that I have been approved! Woohoo! See you all at the end of June :-)

Yes, it allows us to consider retiring early as we have to pay 100% of our health insurance if we stay on the district plan ( excellent plan, no deductible). The stipend will just barely cover a 2 person plan, but at least it does!!

That’s great that you can take advantage of that stipend. We had no such thing, but by putting in the paperwork early, we were reimbursed for the contractually allotted amount of sick days at a higher rate.

My district has no sick day buy out. They cap us at 111 days max, which I have had for years. They aren't worth anything when we leave/ retire.
