Verizon Wireless Customers--discount

I'd heard on here earlier last fall about Verizon Wireless giving teachers discounts. I finally got around to checking more into it and was told to go to <www.verizonwireless.com/getdiscounts>. You type in your work e-mail address to see if you are eligible. I did mine and I am eligible for a 15% discount on my monthly access fee. This will save me about $1 a month....not much, but every little bit helps and is appreciated. Just thought I'd pass this along and hopefully someone else will also be able to save some money.

I have been getting the discount for a while now. I get 18%. All state workers should get a discount. Also, try using your state discount at hotels, etc. Lots of places give them but you have to ask!

In NY, we get a 19% discount on our Verizon bill. Every little bit helps!

I also got a discount from AT&T because I am a state employee. We have Verizon and AT&T cell phones in our family, so I got discounts on both.

I don't have Verizon, but will have to check with my carrier. I do make good use of the state gov't employee discounts for hotels though. We can't take long vacations because of eldery family members that need care, hubby's job, and our 4 legged family members. We did take quite a few Sat night to Mon morning trips this summer though. Just during Christmas break, we went to visit hubby's remaining relatives and saved quite a bit on hotel costs by making reservations using the state gov't rate. Normally, it's around $20-40 bucks, but the place we stayed over the holidays, we saved nearly 100 a night.

How do you get the hotel discounts?

Do you just present verification that you are a teacher?

I was wondering that too. Also I did call verizon but there is alot of paper work stuff I have to do. Was yours that difficult? They want my paystub. I don't think so. I have a district ID but there is not a number and you have to have a badge number. So I guess I might be out of the running. Good Luck and for those that got it. It is a shame teachers have to scrape for every little bit of appreciation but that is reality

I used your link and did what was required--initially came back that I was elgible. Then it said I didn't have the required $34 a month--not true at all. I then called them and they said for me to try again after 24 hours????

I just presented paperwork to the Verizon employee. I didn't do it online. Yes, you will have to show them your paystub to verify it. I didn't think this was a big deal. Everyone has their own opinions though. As far as the hotels, you just present your teacher association card. They don't do anything with it other than look at it.

Yes there is a 15% discount for teachers and many other government employees. All you have to do is enter your work email address on the Verizon website (under the special discounts page) and they will tell you if you qualify or not.

When I put my e-mail in it told me I didn't qualify. However, the next time I went to the store to get a phone they told me I did qualify. All they did was scan in my work ID and then I started getting a discount. It saves me a few bucks a month.

I live in a very small town, and couldn't get the online discount to work. I called and they told me to go into a store the next time I was in the "big city" with my pay stub.

They were not at all interested in the numbers on my stub; they were only interested in the fact that I was a bonafide employee. in fact, they hardly even looked at it. My school district was not on their list so they just put me on another's to get me in the system.

The discount works only on the main account, which is in my name. It does not apply to the ancillary phones for my other 4 family members.
