Any fun ideas for the 100th day? I don't want to make a huge deal out of it, but I'd like to do something to celebrate the day. Thanks!!

We make a fun book

There are ten pages in the book (I staple white computer paper together)
I then divide the students into 10 groups (about 2 in a group)
I set up the room with ten stations that ask them to do ten things:
1. 10 stickers (they put ten stickers on one page)
2. 10 friends ( I photo copy their class pictures and they glue ten friends on one page)
3. 10 stamps
4. 10 smells (I put out smelly markers)
5. 10 inches (they measure a piece of yarn and glue it in)
6. 10 words (they write words from the word wall)
7. 10 numbers (they write different numbers)
8. 10 shapes (I use foam shapes)
9. 10 bees (our classroom theme)
10. 10 letters (abc's)

You could change the centers to fit your class. The kids love it, are very independent and engaged. I also have them carry a clipboard with a sheet that says "100 words I know" where they can write words they know how to spell if they finish their center early. You could also have 100 piece puzzles out.

Have fun!

We already had our 100th day of school on Jan 15th and I had each student bring in 100 pieces of food to share. We counted and put them in a big bowl. I passed out snack for the day. It was very low key.

My class is collecting 100 autographs in a small book (paper folded and stapled).
The entire first grade is bringing in cans of soup and vegetables- our goal is to collect 100 cans this week to donate to the "souper Bowl" food bank.
We will be rotating from class to class ( there are 8 first grade classes) to do different 100 day activities on that day.
That night will be our Family Math Night that involves the whole school with different math activities.

100 Day

Trail Mix - kids bring in boxes of cereal, chocolate chips, etc. Then each kid takes a cup and takes 10 of each the items brought in. Voila - 100 Day Trail Mix! Yummy!

Writing - if I had $100. I found a copy of a 100 dollar bill online. I put a white oval over Benjamin Franklin and put each child's face in the oval. Then they write what they'd do if they had $100.

100 Day Fashion Show. This is a home project. The parents help each child decorate an item of clothing. There should be 100 decorations on the clothing. One year, a parent and child glued 100 puzzle pieces onto a white t-shirt. Another parent and child stamped 100 flowers onto a pair of pants. Really cute!

Have fun!

An easy snack:
Buy individual TWIX candy bars (looks like a 1) and mini donuts - powdered or chocolate (looks like 0's). We then eat the number 100.

I also write the numbers from 0 to 100 on colored dots and hide them around the room. The kids each get a 100's chart and go on a number search. After a set amount of time, we gather back together to check which numbers are still missing. They love to keep looking -- some numbers aren't found until we clean the room for summer vacation!

100 kisses

Someone else mentioned on another thread taking Hershey Kisses and putting a sticker with the numbers 1-100 on them and then hiding them around the room. When they find one, they take their kiss up to the 100's chart and find their number. I thought that was a cute idea.

If you have peanut allergies in your room as I do, you can't use Twix bars. I use a pretzel rod and a mini bagel split in half. I offer cream cheese or jelly to spread on the bagels.

great idea!

I tried the colored dots with numbers, I used the counting by fives numbers instead of all 100. I also shared this idea with the other three kindergarten teachers at my school. We all agreed that this was a wonderful activity. I arranged it so that it would make a pattern when their chart was completed. The kids had a great time and most of them found all the numbers. We've decided to expand on this idea with sight words on colored labels. Thank you so much for sharing. I am new to Pro-teacher and really appreciate all the great ideas and advice!
