Hi

Does anyone know how to figure out the reading grade level of a passage?

Thanks ahead of time.

Depending on the length of the passage, if you put it in a Microsoft word document, it can tell you the reading level. Open the help menu and search for "display readability statistics" and it will tell you step by step how to do it.
Hope that helps!

Here's a couple of sites that might help:This one lets you put in the title and author of a book and it levels it.
http://www.heinemannclassroom.com/tools/levels.asp

This one lets you type in the text and gives you a readability as well as a word count for doing running records:

Hope one of these helps.

You can find the lexile reader of a passage by going to www.lexile.com Use the educator link and then click on lexile analyzer. Also great for finding books and lexile scores.
