Need Printable Spelling Dictionary

Each year we buy our 2nd graders spelling dictionaries to keep in their desks. They have the most frequently used words, plus lines on which they can add words. There are also pages for days, months, contractions, abbreviations, etc.

However, with the budget crunch everyone is feeling, we are debating whether or not we should spend all that money on the dictionaries or try to find a printable one we can make ourselves.

Do any of you have something like this to share? We would LOVE to try making our own! THANKS!!

I love my Month by Month Phonics. I used to print out a writer's dictionary.....now it's my Word Wall. It has all the points you mention above, but best of all...they are accountable for spelling them in all written work. It's fabulous.

I posted it before--its what we use for our second graders. I don't have it at home, I don't think. Maybe someone can pull up the previous thread??

Spelling Dictionary

I've tried to post twice to this message board, and I don't know what is happening. I have a spelling dictionary that I made. I cut and pasted abc pictures from another dictionary that is why it doesn't have abc headings. It does not have the word wall words that I teach, because the kids write those words in. I can also attach it as a word document if someone wants to customize it. I hope this post works...sorry I am new to this.

Hi,
I wonder if you would mind sending this to me. I would love to take a look. I teach gr. 2 and am looking for a good dictionary for the students to keep at their desks.

Thanks

Hello to all,

I have been desperately seeking a spelling and word dictionary for my students. The Edupress strictly prohibits copying ( and they are expensive when you need so many copies!) so I needed something to print out and I found this attachment! Thank you so much. My kids will really appreciate the help! I am thankful for the information!

Take Care and God Bless!
