Flat Stanley help please

I have heard many things about Flat Stanley. However, I have never actually done this! Does anyone have a sample letter that you send out with your Stanleys? I would like to send them out to friends/relatives in other states. But, I don't know exactly how to do this and what to say in the letter. Can someone please clarify for me? Thanks so much! My first-graders will be so excited!

The third grade team in our building does Flat Stanley. I will see if I can get some info from them.

with my first graders now. If you want, I can email you the files of the letters I used. I have one to parents to let them know what is going on, one to the person being sent the flat stanley, a flat stanley pattern, and a journal page for the person being sent the flat stanley.

I'm doing a Flat Stanley this year for the first time and the kids LOVE it. The attachment has our journal that I send out and the letter to the host. I had the kids send it out on their own and bring it back to school when they got it back. Each child has a different color pin, and we put pins on a map on our bulletin board to show where our Flat Friends have gone. Many of my students' parents travel a lot for work and mentioned that they liked how this gave them something special to do for their kids. As far as the Stanleys, my kids just made flat characters of themselves.
Let me know if you have any questions,
Laura

I just sent you an email with the documents I made (we literally just did this). Let us know how it goes!

I did it a few years ago. There was a web-site you registered on. I'm pretty sure it was www.flatstanleyproject.com
Since jeff Brown died I'm not sure if someone is still keeping up the project.

It worked well for me but it takes a lot of time and organization.
