I've decided to have a camping theme in my K class next year. Can you share with me what worked for you? I'm looking for any ideas or thoughts.
I did find a tent at Ross, which started this thought.
Thank you!
Jeanne

I found adorable battery operated lanterns (they look just like those green Coleman lanterns some of us take on camping trips), camp chairs, and other camping gear designed for children.
Other things that come to mind...
  • S'mores
  • lightening bugs
  • stars on the ceiling
  • a pretend fire ring in the library area
  • camp songs
  • backpacks to store themed books
Hmmm...I was thinking of a western theme for next year. Now I'm thinking of going with camping!

That sounds so cute. You could also get a mosquito net and create a quiet corner for reading with the fake camp fire.

I have attached directions to build a campfire. I have not done it, but I must have found it here on proteacher. Good luck making one.

room, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it to the right size that I can upload it to ProTeacher! If you'll send me your email address (Private Message if you want), I'd be happy to send my pics to you. One point though - I worked (my mother helped) for more than 3 weeks on my room last summer. I had to tear it down this week as I have to change rooms next year. I cried.

Check out the dollar section at Target if you have one mine has alot of camping supplies in it right now. You could make a fake fire out of paper towel rolls and paint them. Make smores from solar ovens, which can be made from pizza boxes.

I would also love to see pictures of your classroom. Can you send them to mymooseman<img src="images/smilies/s...g" />yahoo.com
My room is being torn apart now so I am getting rid of what I never use and trying to start a theme. We are year round so I need to get moving right away!
Thanks
