Show us your classroom job display

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I was just curious how those of you who have classroom jobs for your kids display them. When I student taught a few years ago, the teacher had them in this circle using stick people cut outs. The jobs would just rotate around each week.

I have also seen them in pocket charts or using library pockets on a wall.

Personally, I have my job board in this pocket chart shaped like overalls. I bought it a few years ago online after seeing it in someone else's room. It was just so dang cute! It holds about 12 jobs, but next year I have already planned out how to have a job for each student, so I will be splitting the larger index cards into two jobs rather than having them just show one.

Show us yours! My picture doesn't show it super close, but you can see the chart well enough I hope. I used clip art and laminated them on large index cards. Plus, this picture is from the beginning of the year (you can tell by how empty my math board is next to it).

I don't have a picture but I have one that I like. I started using this when I taught first grade and the kids couldn't read the job names in September. I use objects attached to the board for most jobs. The person who leads the flag saulte is indicated by a small flag. The person in charge of straigtening books--a small book. The students who put mail in the mailboxes--an envelope (or a model of one). Erasing the boards--an eraser is velcroed to the board. Board washer--a sponge. For those that I can't use an object, I use a picture or shape. The helper is a picture of a gloved hand. Substitute is just a shape with the word substitute inside.

For 4th grade , I used hands (purchased at the teacher store) along with the title Helping Hands . Students write their names on clothepins and attach it to the hand labeled with jobs and descriptions to show which job that week is theirs. These hang down from one long string from the ceiling. I did not have any room to hang a pocket chart or anything else. So this worked in one corner of the room.
Sorry no photo.

I like the idea that you attached the description.

If you look at my pic, there are a couple sheets of paper above the overalls that have the job descriptions. Instead of doing that, I am thinking I can attach them to the backs of the index cards and if the kids need reminders they can pull the card out and look.

Thanks!

Velcro Dots!!

I have apple cutouts with each job on them and placed the self stick velcro dots on them. Each student's name is written on a half of an index card with the other side of the velcro dot. I change jobs every 2 weeks, then just stick a new name up there. Sorry couldn't get the picture to upload.

In the past I used a race track that I made out of black posterboard. I used car nametags (cut outs would work too) for the students names. I just moved their names around the board each week. Depending on the amount of jobs you are going to have you can make a larger race track out of black paper.

I used this display the years that I had a racing theme. The cars are cut from fabric. Students decorated a helper "person" and I rotated them from car to car.

Job Chart

Here is mine. I have a monkey for everyone on the pocket chart. I only have about 11 jobs (some use 2 people) and the rest of the spots are "vacation" I use this method because I can be sure everyone gets equal shots at the jobs. I use the "vacation" spots for things like handing out papers, etc.

This year I decorated with a Hollywood theme. Jobs were displayed on alternating clap boards and film strips under the title "Studio Crew." I don't have a picture but will attach examples.
