Lableing Book Bins

For those of you who have sorted and labeled your book bins, what types of labels did you give them?

I have separated my various books into three different reading levels in my classroom, but do not want to label them easy, medium and hard.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Colored Dots

The leveled part of my library is divided into 6 different "Polka Dot" baskets. I teach 2nd grade and have a wide range of reading abilities (from 1st grade reading level to 5th grade).
Red - K/1
Blue - 1
Yellow - 2
Green - 3
Orange - 4
Lime Green - 5

Personally, I don't "graduate" the kids to the next polka dot basket, I allow them to let me know when they think they are ready. I let them try it and get back to me during a conference.

The other 80% of my books are categorized differently. I have baskets such as:
Animals (fiction)
Family
Friends
Mystery
Series (there are many of these baskets)
Authors (there are many of these too)
Poetry
Fairy Tales
Tall Tales
Tales from Other Lands
Jokes and Riddles
Magazines

I also have a non-fiction section:
Reptiles
Spiders and Insects
Endangered Animals
Animal Habitats
Sports
Famous People
USA
Foreign Countries
Money
Rocks and Minerals
Plants
Inventing

I have some of mine labeled by level, some by series, and some by theme. Here is a copy of the labels I made. I printed them on lable sheets and stuck them on the ends of the baskets.

I was wondering how you created your labels. I see so many teachers create some awesome items like your labels and always wonder how. I am a bit technology challenge.
Thanks for your help.
