At my school we are going to start using essential questions this fall. Our principal wants us to start with reading questions first, then we'll add others later. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to come up with the essential questions? I'm trying to get a head start and work on some questions. Thanks in advance!!
Our district has developed essential questions for each subject area, for each grade level, for each quarter. We are required to post these in our classroom next to our weekly objectives. What grade are you developing essential questions for? I teach third grade and I have the third grade essential questions typed into word documents on my computer at school. If you are interested, I can post them next week.
I'm a 3rd grade teacher also. We will be required to post reading essential questions on the wall in the Fall. We will later add other subject essential questions. That's nice that your district developed the EQ for each subject area. We have to make our own questions. Yes, I would be interested in seeing your essential questions. Where will you post them? Thanks a bunch! If I can help you in any way, let me know.
I also teach 3rd grade and we started using these this year as part of Learning Focus. We have Unit Essential Questions and then Lesson Essential Questions for each subject. Since it just started this year, as a grade level we were allowed to pick on subject to start with. Our questions had to be a bulletin board with the both questions, concept, and vocabulary. I believe you can go into our district website and see these. here is the website. http://www.polk-fl.net/ just click on staff. From there scroll down a little and on the right hand side your will see curriculum maps, click on that, then view curriculum maps you will then see folders -- elementary. click that, fron there you just need to pick a subject and then the grade level, and you will see the maps which have all the essential questions. For example: reading - fluency - Unit Essential Question = How does reading with fluency help me understand what I read? Lesson EQ = How does decoding words quickly help me become a fluent reader?
I clicked on your website and went straight to it, but after that, you lost me! I see the STAFF words down on the right, but you cannot click on the word STAFF, and when I clicked on the other things under STAFF I could not proceed without a password.
I wanted to check out your essential questions but couldn't get to it---did I miss a step??? Please let me know.....
I have been so busy finishing out for the year that I haven't been on the site. Thanks to "Mrs. Gorf" for posting the direct link. I guess I should have just done that...didn't even think about it. But that is what you all are about....being HELPFUL!!!
Sorry about the delay folks. We just finished our last week of school, my room is all packed up, and I can finally breathe again. Since I am still classified as a new member, I can't post the Essential Questions that my district uses. If you PM me with your email address, I will be glad to send them to you.
i couldn't figure out how to pm you with this request (i'm new to this site) ... but if you wouldn't mind emailing me your essential questions, particularly for 3rd grade reading and writing, i'd love to see them as well. my email is firstname.lastname@example.org
luv2Lrn, Thank you for offering to help. I could not figure out the pm thing. I am new at this. But I would really appreciate it if you would email me the essential questions. My address is email@example.com.
I am doing ok on making some of them, but am really having trouble with many of the concepts. It would really help to see how others are written.
