I would like to decorate my classroom in a Rock and Roll theme this year. Does anyone have any ideas for decorating and activities? I teach 4th grade.

Perhaps you could use a lot of the 50's themed stuff. Like old vinal records and music notes.

You may not be able to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, but the Web site is sure to give you some ideas. Their gift shop is huge, and you can probably can order things online. Go here and enjoy!

Carson-Delosa has a large jukebox bulletin board kit, and they also have paper CDs you can get a package of independent of the kit. We did the door one year with "Ms. ___'s Hits" and did the kids' names on the door. The party supply store might also have items to go with this theme.

Little Teach,

Thanks! After reading your post, I ordered some "45" records to hang from the ceiling and a few other things, as well.

I used the Jukebox in the hall last year and I found some of the records at a local party store.

BB Headers

Thanks for all the good ideas. I'm now working on some ideas for BB headers. So far I'm considering "Be True to Your School" and "Rock & Roll n' to the Tune of Learning" (saw this one on another website) Does anyone have any other ideas for a reading center and math (mult. facts) center related to rock & roll theme?

Thanks,

Annie2

Bulletin Board

I covered the labels of the 45 records with my students' names for a welcome back bulletin board that read, "Fourth Graders Rock!". (Of course the students had no idea what a 45 record was!) I put up music notes and a juke box too. You could title your math bulletin board Math Rocks or if you are having them "graduate" from their multiplication facts you could write "Graduates Rock". Hope this helps.
