Morning circle welcome song

Hi everyone! Looking for a circle time song for morning circle. You know, something that says " Welcome, glad you're here!" I'm not real happy with the couple I tried last year. Any ideas or songs that you use and particularly like? Thanks!

Not a "Welcome" song but...

In the morning, students partner up and we do this song:

Hey there neighbor what do you say, [shake hands with partner]
It's going to be a wonderful day! [wave hands]
Clap your hands and boogy on down, [clap hands, twist body down]
Give a little bump and turn around. [gentle bump to partners hip, turn around]

While singing, the students do the motions in brackets above. After the song I cound down from 5 and by the time I get to 0 the students need a new partner. We sing the song 3 times, and then on the 3rd time the last line is changed to "give a little bump and sit back down."

I do this in first grade, but you might be able to change it for your kidos!

Hope this helped!!

I do a song on a pocket chart that helps the kids learn their name in print (and others' names as well). It's an "echo song" - so after they're familiar with it, I sing each line a different way and have them echo me (loud, soft, fast, slow, high, low, etc.).

It's to the tune of "Frere Jacques":

Hello__________, Hello _________
How are you?
How are you?
We're so glad to see you!
We're so glad to see you!
Here at school.
Here at school.

Scholastic has a great big flip book of Circle Time songs that comes with a CD that I used last year. It has several welcome songs in it that my kids loved.

I use Hap Palmer's So Happy You're Here from his So Big cd. I made up hand motions to go with it. I have used this song now for 10 years. After singing this song everyday, the kids know it so well that we start each "concert" or end of the year celebration with it.

The kids don't get tired of it. And it's easy for them to learn.

Good luck!

We do:

Eyes are watching
Ears are listening
Lips are closed
Hands are still

Feet are very quiet
You should really try it
Listening we, listening well.

I may have got it from Mrs. Jones Sing Alongs but I am not sure.

I use Dr. Jean's Rise and Shine:

Rise and Shine and Welcome to School Today
Rise and Shine and Welcome to School Today
Rise and Shine and Welcome to School Today
We're so Glad your Here!

It goes on to sing one verse louder then quieter and then whisper.
After the whisper version all students are sitting quiet and ready for our morning circle.

Welcome Song

I don't remember where I found this one, but I've used it for a few years now.

Sung to tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star"
Welcome, welcome everyone,
It is time to have some fun.
First we'll put our coats away,
Then we'll start our busy day.
Welcome, welcome everyone,
I'm so glad that you have come!

There are so many responses, maybe I'll pick something new for this year

I just love my morning song and so do my students.

To the tune of "Frere Jacques"

Hello Friends. Hello friends.
How are you? How are you?
We're glad you came to school today.
We're going to learn and laugh and play.
Yes we are. Yes we are.

We then put in each students name instead of "Friends" and sing the song over and over. With larger classes, we sing to the girls one day and the boys the next. The kids really learn eachother's names quickly, and never seem to tire of singing the song.

Circle Time greeting sone

This greeting song can be found on the CD, Keep on Singing and Dancing with Dr. Jean. Song #1 is called Hello Neighbor. The words a slight bit different. She signs the song three times, I think. On the last time, the last line tells the children to sit down.

I have successfully used "Where is Thumbkin" as a greeting song by substituting the child's name for Thumbkin. I have the student sing the response lines as a solo.

Teacher: "Where is Johnny"
Class: "Where is Johnny"
Student: "Here I am. Her I am."
Teacher & Class: "How are you today Johnny"
Student: "Very well I thank you"
Teacher & Class: "Glad you're here, Glad you're here."
